TailorMade
TailorMade is Vonisha Service Foundation’s skill development program designed to empower underprivileged women by providing professional tailoring training. Through hands-on experience and mentorship, participants build confidence, gain practical skills, and secure pathways to sustainable income. This initiative enables women from marginalized communities to become economically self-reliant and support their families since 2022.
Skill Development
ProjectSakhi
Project Sakhi is dedicated to empowering marginalized women through capacity building, financial literacy, health and hygiene education, and community development. In November 2023, Vonisha engaged with groups of women from South Bangalore's urban slums, many of whom are mothers and caregivers to children attending Vonisha’s Learning Centre. Through weekly group sessions facilitated by our social worker and collaborative partners, these women—often daily wage laborers and house helps—receive essential training and resources that foster self-reliance and support their role as key stakeholders in their children's education.
Environment
EcoProject
The EcoProject is dedicated to nurturing biodiversity and promoting ecological balance through Miyawaki Forest Development, aiming to mitigate natural calamities and conserve forests. In collaboration with the Rural Ecology and Development Organisation (REEDOW), Vonisha undertook this project at Gandhiji Government Middle School, Theni District, Tamil Nadu. In April 2021, 500 trees, including fruit, flower, and vegetable varieties, were planted on 9188 sq ft of land to enrich soil and water conservation. The project’s impact is assessed through regular site visits, volunteer reports, and shared experiences.

TakeOff
The TakeOff Program provides crucial support to high school dropouts aged 14 and above, assisting them in completing their 11th and 12th grades through scholarship aid. This comprehensive initiative offers personal counseling, career workshops, individual planning sessions, mentoring, health support, and home visits. It leverages the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) for grade 10 completion and collaborates with professionals for life skills workshops and career guidance, ensuring students gain the skills and knowledge necessary for further education and self-reliance.

SchoolFinish
The SchoolFinish Program or Project Akshaya supports 8th to 12th-grade school dropouts by providing scholarships and tutorial assistance to help them complete their education as private candidates. Operating in areas such as Bangalore South and several districts in Tamil Nadu, including Theni and Dindigul, the program has significantly benefited tribal children. With a focus on mentorship and career guidance, this initiative helps students complete their studies and improves their socio-economic status, creating pathways to further education and job opportunities.

AfterSchool
The AfterSchool Program is crucial for Vonisha’s support of first-generation learners, providing guidance and reinforcement beyond regular school hours. It serves as a valuable resource for slow learners, helping them stay focused and understand the formal curriculum more effectively. This program benefits children mainstreamed into government schools, low-cost private schools, and those enrolled in the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). By fostering consistency in learning and promoting academic growth, the AfterSchool Program ensures that children continue their education with confidence and support.

Back2School
The Back2School Program builds on the foundation laid by the BridgeEd initiative, guiding children to re-enter formal education in government and private schools and through the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS). The program primarily serves children in grades 1 to 8 at St. Ignatius Public School and Kidz in Begur, Bengaluru. Since 2022, Vonisha has fully managed St. Ignatius, ensuring cost-effective operations and consistent educational standards. This initiative targets children from marginalized backgrounds, including those from single-parent families and economically disadvantaged communities.
Education
EarlyCare
The Early Child Care and Support Program is essential in Vonisha’s efforts to promote educational continuity. It supports children under six who are siblings of school dropouts or out-of-school children aged 6-14, particularly among urban migrant families in the slums of Karnataka, including South Bengaluru. By engaging young children early, the program helps reduce the burden on older siblings who often act as caregivers, thus decreasing the likelihood of school dropouts among the older age group. This initiative fosters early development and sets a foundation for lifelong learning.

BridgeEd
BridgeEd is one of our flagship education programs, that has created an impact since the inception of Vonisha. The BridgeEd Program offers a one-year curriculum for out-of-school children and dropouts (ages 6-14), helping them bridge learning gaps and rejoin formal schools. Focused on children from urban migrant families, such as construction laborers and rag pickers, the program operates under government schemes. Since 2017, Vonisha Service Foundation has run it in Begur, with sessions held at St. Ignatius Public School since 2019. This initiative is key to bringing vulnerable children back into the education system.
